Friendly with Avengers of Hyjal today

Did some more trash clearing today - can't really do much when there are instance and server restarts.  We took just 22 people today, and clearing trash on 25 man seemed easier than on 10 man - maybe because we knew the trash?  Or maybe it's that much easier to cc with 25 people!  Anyway, everyone seemed to have fun clearing trash.

I hit friendly and got to buy my cape today (Flowing Flamewreath Cape).  Woot.  That was a blow to my haste but a boost to my mastery.  So just juggled around some gear and I'm all good again.

Oh and since raid ended early, we went and did a random and get Stonecore.  We even managed to get our Rotten to the Core achievement.  Nice.

Picked up some more pets.  10 more to go.

Trash mobs in Firelands raid - Frostwolves first look

A shame we were 3 short of a 25 man!  We unfortunately had to sit a lot of disappointed people out and we took 10 of us to go for our first jaunt into SS.

Now why don't they have strats for trash!  It took us ages to figure out some of the trash mobs!  Here are some in particular that when we finally figured out we were like.. phew!

Cinderweb Spinner + a cinderweb drone + a whole bunch of Hell hounds

Well these hurt.  It took us a while to figure out to CC the hounds and not the spinner!  Once we got that done, it was a cakewalk.  Roots, banish, sap all work nicely.

Cinderweb Spinner + drone, Cinderweb Spiderlings, Flamewalker Cauterizer + 2 Sentinels
Ok this mob was impossible.  The buff on them would not reset and so after one pull they were one shotting.  We had to give up here.  Hopefully that's fixed or reset tomorrow.
Edit: ok we did this with 25 and fears and cc worked, though it was right before a reset... we almost got it down too before the instance went down!  So here's hoping they fixed it.

Turtle groups
Woot we got punted all over the place!  So make sure you don't get punted into another trash mob.  The big one also puts on a reflecting shield so don't dps it when the shield is up!  The little ones spin around so get the hell out of their way.  It's stunnable, but these beasts are not cc'able.

Flamewalker Overseer
After the tank was 2 shot, we figured out you all stand together to share the AOE cleave.  Aaaah much better!

?I can't remember the name of these mobs, but there were 4 channelers on an elemental and a big melee mob
This was at least easy.  The big mob was tanked, and there were fire bubbles on the 4 channelers which dropped off one at a time, dps the one that the bubble dropped off and then back on the big one, until all 4 are dead, at which point the elemental comes out and does some AOE fire farts which knock you down but as long as the two are separated it goes down pretty easily.

Ancient Core Hounds
You get core leather from them when skinned!  They still fear. And they pick someone up in their mouth and eat them!

Scorpion groups
The small ones die and put some strange debuff on the ground which on it's own didn't seem to hurt, but I think it made you take 10% more dmg with each stack.  It looks like my efflorescence.  It might be actually when they explode they give you the debuff.

So we didn't get to see any bosses today but we got one trash drop and about 1k rep (maybe).  Let's hope that tomorrow is better now that we have the hang of it.

Actually that's not entirely accurate.  I did see the boss.  We didn't engage the boss...

Firelands approaches - am I nervous?

Patch night tonight.

The guild has weathered many patches and expansions, and we have always endured.  People stopped playing, took breaks with increasing briefness of playing now, leaving newer members thinking "Frostwolves is a dying guild.  I think I should jump ship."  And then they too leave.  Vicious cycle?  Or circle of life?

In the last few weeks we have been scraping in a 10 man comfortably, but we have been heavily reliant on 2 tanks.  What if they decide not to turn up?  And will our other tanks return?

I have been very noncholant about the non attendance in the last few weeks, and reassured members that raiding will resume when Firelands opens tomorrow.  I am sure we can get together a 10 man, but what about our 25 mans?  I would like to do 25s again, and just hope that we get a good turnout.  But what if I had false confidence in the return of the bored raiders?  What if everyone says on Wednesday "See, I told you so, nobody is playing and we can't do 25s"?  I know we'll have enough for a 10 man, and I hate having to pick and choose (believe it or not I don't like having to sit people out), but I hate having to scrounge for people.  Maybe some of these socials will pick up their game and start raiding.

In any case, if for some reason we lack healers or tanks (there never seems to be a dps shortage) I don't think I'd be too upset.  It means I can work on my Firelands dailies!

So fingers crossed for tomorrow Frosties.  I know at least 12 of us will be there... how about the other 13?  One can only hope :)

15 Days of Screenshots - Day 15 A Fairy Tale Image

This post is part of my series in participation of Saz's Through your Interface 15 day screenshot challenge.

Day 15: A Fairy Tale Image

World of Warcraft is often described as cartoony and looking a bit, well, fairy tale-ish. Take a screen shot that makes you think of a fairy tale - use Disney inspiration if you must! Feel free to edit this screen shot a bit to enhance the fairy tale feel, or just get super creative with that in game camera!

Oh I had so many ideas for this challenge! It was tough to get everyone together but here I am, Snow White and the seven Gnomes.  Suhleepy, Grumpee, Dockk, Bashfool, Dohpee, Happiey and Sneezie.

I got killed by the Level 90 guards outside Gnomeregan while I was enthusiastically greeting my new companions.  Doh.

Well, that concludes my 15 day screenshot challenge!  That was a fun and challenging diversion (and blog expander!)  Thanks all for the comments and I have to say I've finished just in time for Firelands.  And have had a fun time wandering around exploring Azeroth again.

I've been wandering around looking at the other participants in the challenge, and boy there are some beautiful place I've never been to!  Saz has linked them all here, so you can look for yourself.

Clean kills today in 10s

Gee today we had quite nice raiding, we got Nef down in 2 goes (the first go was bleh for some reason - I blame the fact that I didn't drink my flask) and then we did Throne and wiped once then did AA and wiped once but got them all down before just before 10pm.  No loot for me but it was at least fun, and Earthwisper got her achievements for both kills, and we took Ayelena for the AA kill so he got that as well.

Anyway, that was a nice finish to the week.  Not sure if we will raid tomorrow but I wish I could work on some of my dungeon achievements!

15 Days of Screenshots - Day 14 Place Swap

This post is part of my series in participation of Saz's Through your Interface 15 day screenshot challenge.

Day 14: Place Swap

If you could be any of your characters, who would you be and why?

I don't have any other characters!  But I really do love my druid flight form.

I think Tauren druids have the nicest flight form.  The fact that you can loot while in flight form (great for nabbing quest items) and herb makes us the envy of every class I reckon.  And not to mention it's instant cast - great for when you fall out of the sky (but only when you're not in combat).

Wouldn't it be wondrous to soar through the sky, feeling the wind on your face?  Look at the world from that bird's eye point of view?  And I don't think anybody would have a fear of heights if they only had instant cast flight form.

15 Days of Screenshots - Day 13 A Fond Memory

This post is part of my series in participation of Saz's Through your Interface 15 day screenshot challenge.

Day 13: A Fond Memory

Shed a little tear, grin a little grin, and show us an image that invokes a fond memory for you.

These images were taken back in the day when there was no cross-server PVP and I was a resto/feral druid in PVP.  Gosh those were the days!  This was the only 9/10 Druid WSG that I did.
You can see two members of our guild there now!  Barkhoof  (affectionately known as Woofie) and Chikana (back then in Team Envy, but now in Frostwolves) as well as me (I am the unnamed one).

And of course there is my druid hero - Ehecatl.  I think only Woofie would understand.

15 Days of Screenshots - Day 12 Inspiring Imagery

This post is part of my series in participation of Saz's Through your Interface 15 day screenshot challenge.

Day 12: Inspiring Imagery

Show us something that inspires you within World of Warcraft. This can be a character, a person, scenery that leaves you in aw, or whatever it is that strikes a cord in you. The inspiration it creates can be anything as well: Has this character inspired you to roll a certain class? Does a certain zone make you long to write a story about your character adventuring through that particular area?

I have always been fascinated by Lady Sylvanas Windrunner.  The leader of the undead, she underwent a makeover in WotLK and looks infinitely more hot.  I love her new model, and wish I could have a toon that looked like her!

What is so special about her?  Where do I start?

"We are the Forsaken. We will slaughter anyone who stands in our way."

Artist: Wei Wang
A great military leader who was defeated in combat by Arthas and brought back by him after torture and mutilation as a banshee, Sylvanas was under the Lich King's control.  However, when Ner'zhul was weakend, Sylvanas regained her free will and battled and conquered the Dreadlords for control of Lordaeron and the Plaguelands.  Now she is the Dark Lady, Queen of the Forsaken.

"What joy is there in this curse?"

I try to imagine, what would I do in her place?  Ressurected to be a puppet, clawing back your sense of self, only to find that life - or rather, undeath - is not living.  You have lost your connection to nature, you cannot procreate, your being is filled with hate, anger, revenge.  You are the leader of a people who are an abomination to your enemies and your allies, and with each undead that falls, your numbers and armies dwindle.  Your family is gone, all you have left are your people, and your allies, your burning desire to destroy the Lich King.  What happens when your object of revenge is vanquished?  What now do you do with your life/undeath?  Do you live out the remainder of your days waiting for death to claim you again?
"So, it is done.
I had not dared to trust my senses - too many times has the Lich King made me to be a fool.
Finally, he has been made to pay for the atrocities he imposed upon my people.
May Azeroth never fail to remember the terrible price we paid for our weakness... for our pride.
But what now, hero? What of those freed from his grasp, but still shackled to their mortal coils?  Leave me.  I have much to ponder."

Artist: Hujianing

And yes, before I hear more, I know all about her using Blight to make more Forsaken but what do you expect?  Dead people can't procreate, but there are lots of dead people around, why not breathe some life into them?  However, making them into mindless zombies that serve only you is not exactly my idea of "afterlife", but hey, someone's got to defend the place.

Garrosh Hellscream: "What difference is there between you and the Lich King now?"
Lady Sylvanas Windrunner: "Isn't it obvious, Warchief?  I serve the Horde."
Garrosh Hellscream: "Watch your clever mouth, bitch."

Resto vs Feral

I asked Draithunn if he could duel me yesterday, because I am trying to figure out a strategy to cope with ferals.  I rely heavily on Sev to fear ferals off me, and root them briefly, but perhaps I should be trying to sleep them.  Anyway in a 1v1 situation it's really had to sleep anything, and since I have no spell haste it's even more crap!

So I was totally pwned after 3 mins, I have to say he made quite good use of his cyclones to halt my healing while he ran away to heal himself.  And that leaping... geez that's way op.

So what should I do differently?  LOS so the can't leap me?  more roots so they can be dotted down? Fear and dots seem to work well for Sev, I think I will just have to rely on thorns and NG to keep them out of my way for a few minutes.

Rooting didn't seem to work that well because as soon as roots were off he leapt over to me.  I didn't bear form at all so maybe next time I could buy a bit of time if I used Demoralising Roar in bear and did some frenzied regen.  I'd have to watch ferals because of that because a good cyclone could negate my innervate.  So far no feral has ever done that, only restos and boomkins.

After that he wanted to try me on his warrior, and that was better for me, worse for him!  Warriors are easy to cc and he probably panicked a bit because his health went down to 50k for a bit, but eventually I was worn down, but it was a long match.  I'd say a good 5 mins.

As Oom would say, more pole dancing for me.  A shame there is nowhere to pole dance in Orgrimmar duelling area.

15 Days of Screenshots - Day 11 Profession of Choice

This post is part of my series in participation of Saz's Through your Interface 15 day screenshot challenge.

Day 11 : Profession of choice

Show us an image of you doing what you like to do best.

Fishing.  Definitely.  People say I'm crazy but I find it strangely therapeutic - except when I'm trying to catch certain fish... and turtles.
I was the first person in the guild to get the Salty title.  In fact I still only use that title now.  It elicits all sorts of dirty comments and it's not that common a title, not that I've noticed anyway.

So here I am with the boys trying to land me a big one.

Sadly there are 2 fishing achievments which elude me.  Turtles all the way Down and Old Ironjaw.  Even the water rat in Dalaran took me ages to get, compared to other non avid fishers.

4.2 Resto druids (2 piece T12) Gear from Ominous forums

I saw this list made by Tellervo from Ominous (Saurfang) and decided to paste it here for easy reference.  She did say it could be incorrect but it gives me something to look forward to.

Head: Cowl of the Clicking Menace (Beth'tilac)
Neck: Firemind Pendant (1250VP). Heartstone of Rhyolith (Rhyolith) has more Spirit and less Mastery
Shoulder: Unfortunately there is no non-tier item for this slot unless leather shoulder with random enchant that drops off Shannox happens to be good (Flickering Shoulderpads).  Looks like I'll have to wear my PVP ones (Ruthless Gladiator's Kodohide Spaulders)
Back: Flowing Flamewrath Cape (Avengers of Hyjal - Friendly)
Chest: Obsidian Arborweave Robes (2200 VP). Incendic Chestguard (Rhyloith) has more spirit but less haste.
Wrist: Glowing Wing Bracers (Baleroc). Smolderskull bindings (1250 VP) has crit instead of haste.
Hand: Cindersilk Gloves (Beth'tilac) or Heavenly Gloves of the Moon (Leatherworking). Cindersilk has more Spirit and less Haste
Waist: Firescar Sash (Avengers of Hyjal - Honoured)
Leg: Obsidian Arborweave Legwraps (2200 VP) has mastery. Firecat Leggings (Majordomo Staghelm) has haste
Feet: Phoenix-Down Treads (Alysrazor) has Mastery, and Ethereal Footfalls (Leatherworking) has Haste.
Ring1: Quicksilver Signet of the Avengers (Avengers of Hyjal - Exalted)
Ring2: Soothing Brimstone Circle (1250VP) or Crystal Prison Band (Shannox)
Trinket1: Jaws of Defeat (Majordomo Staghelm) or Fiery Quintessance (Avengers of Hyjal - Revered)
Trinket2: Eye of Blazing Power (Alysrazor) or Moonwell Chalice (Firelands Dailies)
Main Hand: Ko'gun Hammer of the Firelord (Ragnaros) is a 1H mace. 1H+OH combo gives less Spirit but more Haste thant 2H. Another option is the 2H staff Smoldering Censer of Purity (can drop from any boss) with more Spirit. If you don't have T11 heroic weapon, then Lightforged Elementium Hammer is BiS until you get Ko'gun
Offhand: Goblet of Anger (Shannox) much better imo than Globe of Moonlight (Firelands Dailies)
Relic: If mana is not an issue, then Soulflame Vial (700VP) is the BiS. If you want Spirit then Singed Plume of Aviana.  There is also the vendor one available from Firelands Dailies Relic of Elune's Light.

Wednesday in the last week before 4.2

After last week, I felt like I needed to take Earthwisper to Nefarian and AA, so I put together a group so we could go.  Unfortunately a created a lot of controversy and angst because nobody wanted to do a full clear, and I forced them to.  So we had a pretty lousy night of raiding.  Lots of wiping and grumpy people.

At least some loot was taken so I don't feel like it was totally wasted.  And then there was a server and instance reset so we decided to put an end to our torturous raiding for the day.  We only managed to get Magmaw and Omnotron down.  Maloriak wasn't well done and we didn't get it down in the end.

So tonight I might have to end the torture and use Sev's save to do Nefarian.  We'll see how many people turn up.

Navi's thoughts on crit/mastery changes and some new gear in 4.2

With mastery giving us harmony where our direct heals are increased by 10% and applying a direct heal increases our hots by 10% (with each point in mastery giving us an extra 1.25%), I've been wondering if I need to lay my heals on differently.  It would appear that laying more hots will be better as if each hot is buffed by 10% with each nourish I'm putting on them then you would get a good increase in your hps.  I'd have to think about it, but I can imagine that tank healing for Nefarion will be quite good for me then!

Crit heals will now heal for double, so that's pretty cool!  I have to say crit is a really unreliable stat, since it's all RNG, and I would rather something reliable like haste where you know it's going to be there.  But you can imagine how awesome it would be if you did a swiftmend and it crit and then the efflorescence would be healing massively!

So I don't think I'll be stacking my stats any differently.  Still aim for 2005 haste and then go mastery and then crit.  Am wondering though if spirit is still worth having or should I stack it all on as intellect.  I think
I will still take all gear with spirit on it but I won't reforge into spirit until I have my haste all on.

All the new gear has crit on it though.  Where am I going to get all my haste from?

Well!  I noticed that two of the leatherworking patterns are quite good, with spirit AND haste.

Ethereal footfalls and Heavenly Gloves of the Moon

Looks like I'll be working hard to get Lushnek to make my stuff again!  Geez haven't had anything made since LK.

15 Days of Screenshots - Day 10 Your WoW Crew

This post is part of my series in participation of Saz's Through your Interface 15 day screenshot challenge.

Day 10: Your WoW Crew

Who are the people you hang out with day in and day out? Do you only hang out with your raid mates? Do you have a small, tight knit group of friends that you hang out with? Or are you a strange longer who just hangs out with your pets?
Well, as you do in a big guild you hang out in raids with 25 of your buddies all the time.  But I do have a close group of friends.  Here we are eating and drinking at the Filthy Animal.  How very Horde :P We even let our dogs eat at the table (well, felpuppy)

Guild funny for June

Hunters.  What can I say.

The last week leading up to patch 4.2

Ah, last week of lousy raid attendance *fingers crossed*.  This week I promised myself that we would take Earthwisper for her Nefarian and Al'Akir kill.  That is, if the tanks turn up.

So here is what I'm going to miss now that patch is about to go live:
  • admittedly I did like the quiet raiding.  It's so nice and intimate in 10s compared to 25s, though I also like the party feel of 25s.
  • Facerolling.  God it was good knowing the fights and knowing how to lead everyone to victory.
  • Whinging about my lack of Purple hat!
  • Getting to do old instances/raids and PVP when we finish early from raiding.
So here is what I'm NOT looking forward to with patch:
  • OMG fighting for dailies mobs again!
  • Crappy innervates from other druids.  I love the boomkin innervate as it is now.  No more 80k innervates /cry
  • Having to kick people out from 25 man raids when we have a huge turnout
Here is what I AM looking forward to with patch:
  • Dungeon Journal! Yay for not having to look it up on Tankspot or Wiki or whatever other google search pulls up.
  • DKP reset!  Or well, moving it to low levels again so we all get a chance to get gear.
  • A more awesome looking Dark Phoenix mount.  I don't like the current graphic.
  • New bosses and new loot and new things to learn
Now here is something I didn't know...

I had no idea that the War games option existed.  This was like the skirmish thing that we had before but it was removed.  I was just saying to Sev the other week that I wish we could battle another team to practice our techniques as a one off match.  And apparently you can!  And have been able to since Season 9 Arena started!

So all you have to do is type /wargame groupleadername mapname

So, looks like I'll be trying that this week if nothing much is happening.  That is if I can find someone to play against.  There is heaps of negativity going on though about it after the blue post so maybe it's not so cool (probably because it's not random you actually have to LOOK for someone to play with).

15 Days of Screenshots - Day 9 Your Character's Hometown

This post is part of my series in participation of Saz's Through your Interface 15 day screenshot challenge.

Day 9: Your Character's Hometown

We all have the same starting zones where we begin our various quests, but where does your character actually hail from?

I've extrapolated this to mean where my hearth is, as I can't seem to make Mulgore more exciting than it is.  Which means it's slightly different to where I hang out (Day 1), but I thought I'd put some pics of where my hearth was with each expansion.

Cataclysm: Valley of Wisdom, Orgrimmar

A home away from home.  A Tauren village in the middle of Horde Central.  Looking around you'd never think you left Thunderbluff - except for the stealthy thieves sneaking around the boxes near the bank...

Wrath of the Lich King: Legerdemain Lounge, Dalaran

Ah, nothing like that Dalaran hospitality, where you can sit and enjoy a nice Half full Dalaran Wine glass, or head upstairs to the Ledgerdemain Lounge where you can lie down in comfort.  Damn, these humans know how to make an inn.

 Burning Crusade: Aldor Rise, Shattrath

Watch that first step!  The elevator boss on Aldor rise was a quite a killer in the day.  But one thing that used to bug me about that inn was how do I get onto those top bunks?

Vanilla: Grom'gol, Stranglethorn Vale

Ok I know it seems weird.  But back then when there was only one hearth it used to drive me crazy trying to get to the other continent.  So being a druid I always had my Moonglade teleport for Kalimdor, and then I had Grom'gol for Eastern Kingdoms.

Yet another Ulduar run...

Things often get ugly when people fight about achievements.  Now I personally love achievements and don't mind doing them but some people don't.  But today we did 25 Ulduar to help me get shards.

Thraso was in a grumpy mood because we weren't going to try to get achievements he didn't have already.  So he emologged and left raid at XT.  Even after I got Sev to get on his DK to tank so he could bring his mage!  Oh well, can't please everyone.

Sigh, well only 2 shards today, and no new achievements but lots of guildies got achievements.  So that made them happy.  Still no good on the Disarmed, but I think we just need to have less people around for that achievement.  Too much dps makes it all go bad.

So we only cleared up to Freya.  But at least I got 3 of my sigils.

15 Days of Screenshots - Day 8 Vacation Spot

This post is part of my series in participation of Saz's Through your Interface 15 day screenshot challenge.

Day 8: Vacation spot

If Azeroth was the real world, where would you vacation to?

Well, this is a tough one.  There are so many nice things to see in Azeroth if I was on holidays there!  So if I wanted to chill out by the pool I'd hit Gallywix Pleasure Palace up in Azshara.

For a fantastic night sky I'd go to one of the floating islands in Nagrand because Outlands really is spectacular at night time.

But the only place that I've seen that has a rainbow is down in Cradle of the Ancients in Uldum.  Isn't this a lovely spot?  However, it looks like it would have lots of mosquitoes and leeches... ugh not my idea of a nice holiday but other than that, it looks like a great campsite!  (Thanks Xyn for showing me where the rainbow was!)

15 Days of Screenshots - Day 7 Best Screen Shot of the Year

This post is part of my series in participation of Saz's Through your Interface 15 day screenshot challenge.

Day 7: Best Screen Shot of the Year

Show us the best screen shot you believe that you have ever taken and why you think it is the best (content, meaning, how you framed it, etc).

This deceptively simple shot of Bastion of Twilight in Twilight Highlands was actually very hard to take.  I ended up having to cheat and take a video to actually get the shot I wanted, hence the odd size of the picture.  I like the colours of the lightning, I like looking at the sky with those menacing clouds, and I like that I haven't seen anyone else (yet) with a screenie like this. Sometimes I feel when I take a great screenie of something I go to someone else's website and a very similar shot is there! And of course if I see a great screenie on someone's website I want to go and try to take a picture like that too. Angelya (Revive and Rejuvenate) and Rioriel (Postcards from Azeroth) have some of the best screenies in WoW (my personal opinion), and I love to go there to see what pictures they have.

Healing Nefarian - 10 man (druid point of view)

Healing Nef has a few special tips and tricks that I thought I should share now that I have done all 3 of the healing roles.

On 10 we do this with 3 healers. One person for each tank and one for raid/adds tank (phase 1 only).

Phase 1 - Onyxia phase

Onyxia tank healer - be prepared to keep your tank at max health and hotted up.  I haven't really found anywhere where you can safely heal the tank and not get electrocuted AND not get tailswiped.  So being tailswiped is the lesser of two evils.  I stand on Ony's left side while the tank is tanking and when he turns her for her electricity I will get hit with a tail swipe.  Fortunately Onyxia doesn't hit that hard so it's not too hard to heal.  Just remember to keep yourself topped up too!

Nefarian tank healer - this is usually the heaviest healing of the lot.  Run with the tank to the opposite side to where Nefarian is being tanked (usually I throw some hots onto the adds tank while I'm heading there since nothing happens for about 20 seconds) and don't stand where you will be hit by frontal cleaves and breaths!  I find forward of the tank and to their right is the best spot (ie don't hide behind the pillar on the left because when Nef is turned you might get the tail swipe there).  Damage is heavy so I preheal with rejuv and 3 LBs and then use regrowth every time it procs and I spam nourish on the tank or HT if it's low with swiftmends to help top up.  I tend to keep my Wild growths for one of the ranged when electricity goes off, to keep them topped up a little.  It's mana intensive so you are going all out until all the adds die and then the offtank healer can come and relieve you a little so you can have some chance to get some mana back.  At that point stand with the group of ranged and heal everyone up through electrocute with a wild growth and a swiftmend/efflorescence.

Adds tank healer - follow the adds tank around as they pick up the adds.  Now dont' get hit by lightning or tail swiped!  I used to think standing in the middle was the best option, but it's not - I think keeping max range and keeping myself towards the nefarion tank and healer saves me from electricity so many times, but of course every now and then I have to run out to heal the adds tank.  DPS usually don't take that much damage at this time unless they have an add on them or are standing in the wrong spot (in which case they deserve to die!) so it's not too bad until the adds tank gets to the specified adds tanking spot (so they can all rez there for easier kiting in phase 2) and you just heal them until the adds are dead.  It can make your healing easier if the adds get interrupted (warstomps) or frozen with a ring of frost so you can have a second or two to top the tank up but I didn't really need it.  Once the adds are down run over to help heal the Nefarian tank as everyone should be over there, and stand with the group and heal the group up during electrocutes.  I usually lifebloom the tank and then keep a rejuv up on myself for a quick swiftmend after electrocute.  I save my tranq for getting up on the pillar.

Mana tide is good towards the end of phase 1, so if you have it in the raid, use it then.

Each healer will be assigned a pillar so make sure you get to your pillar quicksmart!  As a druid it's best if you take the pillar with the most people on it (there usually is one pillar with 4 people on it) as wild growths and swiftmends help heal a lot of people and they can all be hotted up.

Phase 2 - Pillars

It sounds simple enough, get up on the pillar and heal, right?  Wrong.  Getting up on the pillar itself can be a feat of strength at times!  Don't jump in and out of the lava, you will only take more damage.  Stand just outside the small ring around the base of the pillar, but not under the spout or you will get stuck on it.  I wait till the lava is well over my head, then I head up and then step forward onto the pillar, though most people seem to be able to jump onto the pillar.  I tranq as soon as I get up and then wildgrowth and then start laying LBs on someone so I can proc a free regrowth.  You can mostly get away with wildgrowth and then alternating with getting an efflorescence down while you wait for the wg cooldown to come back up again, and of course heal whoever is low appropriately.  Leave the interrupts for the dps and tanks, unless you are a shaman, though I have no idea how they have time to do that when I am already full on trying to heal my group.  It's best to have one electrocute go off in this phase so when they tell you electrocute is coming keep everyone as high as you can.  I usually innervate at the start of this phase if I'm not full already, or as soon as I get down to 70% mana because you will need it again later.  I usually tree form early in this phase so I can have it up again in Phase 3.  Alternatively you can tree form just before electrocute to get off some faster heals.  Try to stand away from the others on this tiny platform, every little bit of damage avoidance helps.

Phase 3 - Kiting adds

This can be a real bitch, but it's not so dependent on your healing as much as it is on the tank being good at avoiding.  Your adds tank has to be smart and your Ony tank has to be good at turning and having good awareness and communication, as fires on the ground are everywhere.

I use one healer on Nefarian tank, and 1-2 healers on the Adds tank.  Once those adds start building up stacks and getting really big, it's useful to cc one just so the tank doesn't keep getting killed, but that shouldn't be for a while.  One healer will have to run with the adds tank, the other healer can hang near Nefarian more and help heal the raid because electrocutes are going to go off constantly.  So keep everyone topped up as much as you can!  It helps when the raid is standing nice and bunched up for easier healing - the stragglers at the edges are what is going to cause a wipe.  We bloodlust at 30% and tree form is good in the later part of this stage, when mana is getting tight.  Hopefully mana tide will be up again, and if not it's innervate time again.  Warstomp and roots helps with cc on the big ones to give you a breather but in general you don't want the adds lagging behind or they get Shadowblazed and they get reenergised up (ie they don't go away!).

Well that's how I heal Nefarian!  Having done each of the 3 different jobs on various kills I hope that if you're reading this, this strategy helps a bit with your healing if you are unsure what works best.

15 Days of Screenshots - Day 6 Favourite Line of Poetry/Lyric

This post is part of my series in participation of Saz's Through your Interface 15 day screenshot challenge.

Day 6: Favourite Line of Poetry/Lyric

Most of us have a favorite poet or song. Give us an image that you think represents your favorite line, or what line inspires you most. You should probably include said line and *maybe* give some explanation/reasoning behind it, unless you're feeling overly ambiguous.

Ever since I read HoTsTree's blog, Aertimas has surely got the BEST druid title ever.

"Don't you wish your girlfriend had HoTS like me? Don't you wish your girlfriend was a TREE like me?"
(adapted from Pussycat Doll's Don't Cha)

So that line is my favourite of all time.

Now I have to say that this is hard to screenie.  How do I capture that?  HoTs look best as a video, not so impressive as a screenie.  Well here is my attempt.  It seems to look better as the Jay Leno tree than as the original treant tree.  Must be that excessive leafiness.  However, I don't think your girlfriend would want to look anything like me.

15 Days of Screenshots - Day 5 Title of Choice

This post is part of my series in participation of Saz's Through your Interface 15 day screenshot challenge.

Day 5: Title of Choice
Show us an image of you pimping your favorite title and give us a reason why you dig it so much

Now Salty is my Title of Choice, and I use it all the time, so you will see Salty Navimie in every shot with my nameplate showing.  But every now and then I like to dress up and be the cook.  So here I am in my cooking outfit, complete with rolling pin (Cookie's Tenderizer - non heroic model!) and my Chef's hat (which you get from 100 Dalaran cooking awards) with my Chef title (which you get from completing the Hail to the Chef achievement).

The hardest part of that achievement was getting the recipes.  Back then, in WotLK, you had to somehow get the rare recipes like Dirge's Kickin' Chimaerok Chops, or the alliance recipes from quest rewards.  Fortunately I love cooking, I think secondary skills totally rock!

15 days of Screenshots - Day 4 Greatest Accomplishment

This post is part of my series in participation of Saz's Through your Interface 15 day screenshot challenge.

Day 4: Greatest Accomplishment

Proud of a boss kill? Excited about taming that rare? Over the moon about getting a title? Show us your greatest in game accomplishment!

I was very happy when we got our Ironbound Protodrakes from our Glory of the Ulduar raider (25 man).  I actually think it is a very attractive mount.  The Bloodbathed one is not so nice, I think because it's too brown.  And when we finally did this achievement I was so happy, one because I got to get some shards (I am still doing my Ulduar 25s in an attempt to get my mace - still need 10 shards!) and two, because it was my first (and so far, only) 25 man dungeon achievement drake.

Melfina is drugged out and sick again

Poor Melf, I sent him a text message the other day to ask him to get online so I could get some more Blood elf chick dance action in my video and I got a text back saying that he was in hospital and that they would pass him the message, and they even called me Navi!  So I wondered a bit about that, and I got another sms later and it was Melf saying that he had a chest infection and he was kept in hospital for a while but he was heading home soon.

I asked him who that was who was on his phone and it was a friend of his.  I thought it might have been one of his girls or his sister but for once it wasn't.

So he made it home yesterday and got online briefly and I told him to go watch my video and he hated the music!  He said it should be something more metal.  I think Sev said something similar (I think he had an eyebrow raised over the Michael Jackson music, however I think not many seemed to pick up on the zombies/undead nature of the song).  However, Tacky did pipe up with the "You start to freeze and horror looks you right between the eyes you're paralyzed" line which I thought was well done with Shab iceblocking and then everyone cowering... so at least somebody listens to song lyrics in association with video!

So I guess for my next video I should find something more heavy metal.  Last time I used soft metal (Linkin' Park) I got a whole lot of trashing for that too!  Which just goes to show that you can't please everyone.  Perhaps I should stick to instrumental music - soundtracks are always a good choice.

Woofie did say that he thought it was my best video so far.  Fue was apparently not happy I filmed him with his helm off (do you blame him?  My god that hair!) but I thought it was appropriate!

15 Days of Screenshots - Day 3 Representing You

This post is part of my series in participation of Saz's Through your Interface 15 day screenshot challenge.

Day 3 : Representing You

Show us an image that represents who you are, either in Azeroth/Outland or in real life.

Firstly, many thanks to McTacky, the guildie who knows everything about World Events Achievements!  He started the quest chain in Arathi Highlands (Triage) so I could get this screenshot.  I did wander around looking for injured people... tried in Argent crusade, down in Shattrath...

So why does this represent me?

So here I am, in tree form.  Yes I am a healer!  And I put myself here with all these injured soldiers because that is kinda what I do in real life too, being a doctor.  And of course where would  an anaesthetist be without her trauma surgeon?  For without surgeons, there would not be much demand for an anaesthetist.

15 Days of Screenshots - Day 2 Player Housing

This post is part of my series in participation of Saz's Through your Interface 15 day screenshot challenge.

Day 2 : Player Housing

If you were to claim a place to call your own, where would it be and why?

In flight form, there is nowhere more grand to be living than in the great World Tree, Nordrassil, in Mount Hyjal.  Majestic and eternal, it speaks of life and of course, reminds me of the Home tree in Avatar.  Which is where The Na'vi live.  Heh heh, nice pun huh?  Home of Navi? :P

But in humanoid form, of all the inns with beds, I like the Night Elves inns best.  Maybe it's because they have nice druidy and zen suroundings and love being back to nature.  And there really is only one place that a Tauren can go to which has that feel (and where I won't get my ass kicked by NPCs).  And that's in Moonglade.

15 Days of Screenshots - Day 1 Favourite Hangout

I've decided to blame Ang at R&R for my next 15 posts.... I wanted to go over and see what she was writing about and stumbled across her submissions in World of Saz: Through your Interface challenge.

Now who am I to resist a screenshot challenge?  And a WoW one at that!  Of course now I feel like a cheat because I take so many damn screenies I can use some of them as part of my posts.

So here goes, and for all my readers who want to catch up on guild gossip my apologies for the slight deviation from normal!

Day 1: Favourite Hangout

"Find yourself perching in a particular tree as a druid? Have a certain hovel you like to hang out in on your undead rogue? Show us where it is, and why your character hangs out there."

Orgrimmar.  I think it's every Frostie's hearth, and like most of my good friends in the guild my hearth is actually in the Valley of Wisdom - Tauren town!  As my favourite mage pointed out - there is everything you could possibly want there.  There's an inn, a bank and gbank, a repair person and an AH all within 40 yards!  And not to mention how close is it to the portals!  However, though the Valley of Wisdom is where you will normally find me logged out or afk, my actual favourite hangout is that pinnacle (or others when it's taken by someone else!) which is in the shot above.  On that pinnacle I find it a great place to actually hang out to take my screenies of mounts and pets without the hustle and bustle of other WoW players ruining my UI.  See below for some examples!

ICC video finally finished!

We had cleared everything in Cata already, so we decided to go tonight to ICC, 25 man.  There were a few reasons:

  1. Moopie needed his box
  2. I wanted a video of the dogs for the "creature creeping up behind, you're out of time" blank spot in my video
  3. Beldarien needs shards
Anyway I didn't get any achievements but lots of other people did.

So I got Az to do the person being snuck up on and he was great.  He even did emotes and stuff, and the Precious one turned out quite good.  The Stinky one wasn't so good because Cornan put a Hunter's mark on it and because Az's health was low Moopie intervened and tried to tank it but Az died, so it was a rather messy looking video when i tried to edit it.

I was naughty and trying to upload during LK fight hence my death and DC (and it didn't help that Lushnek was over as well and getting cranky at me because of lag - but there was like 5 minutes to go and it would have been up!)

You can tell I'm very proud of my videos, I don't know what other people think but I spend lots of time on them and they all have special meaning to me!

So here is my video:

New video in progress

Well I am busy doing my ICC video (I was actually not sure whether to make it a Naxx one or an ICC one) and it seems to be going rather well.  Still trying to get some guildie footage of emotes but as I work through the guild I should be able to get almost everyone in doing something.

Fortunately for me I only choose songs that I really really like (though I wonder if other people will like the song - though what does that matter!  I love the song!) because having to listen to the same song about 100 times while I'm editing and trying to drag frames around and match music to video would drive me crazy if I didn't like the song.

A hint though (I hear collective moans out there...) - it's a Michael Jackson song.... and it was on Glee (oh and btw I LOVE Glee! Well I love the music anyway!) and the episode it was in had zombies in it hence the choice of ICC or Naxx (though I think Naxx may have been better but ICC is more fun to watch I think).

So I still need a few /scared frames and some more dancing and some yelling clips so I'll be trawling through guildies to see who else I can drag to ICC to take some videos.  I'm sure I'll find some volunteers.

I also bought Sony Vegas 11 just to make some WoW videos.  The old version was buggy for me and generally stuffing up, and I couldn't be stuffed reinstalling - the new one lets you render through your video card memory apparently.

Fishing Achievements

I just finished Oceanographer yesterday and still have one more to go on Limnologist (amendment 10/6 - I got my last fish! Damn Huge spotted feltails!).  I tell you, it is REALLY irritating that I know I've caught every single one of these fish before and yet I have to go and fish them all up again.

So for all those diehard fishing fans, here is a quick guide on where I caught all these fish.

Limnographer Fish
Albino Cavefish - Deepholm has pools of these
Barrelhead Goby - Sholozar Basin towards Riverheart
Bloodfin Catfish - Deadwind Pass standing next to Karazhan
Raw Brilliant Smallfish - Orgrimmar
Crescent-Tail Skullfish - Deadwind Pass standing next to Karazhan
Dragonfin Angelfish - Dragonblight has pools of these
Felblood Snapper - Hellfire Peninsula
Fountain Goldfish - Dalaran
Giant Darkwater Clam - Wintersgrasp but the drop rate of these is crap!
Glassfin Minnow - Crystalsong Forest
Goldenscale Vendorfish - Terrokar Forest in pools but they can drop from any pool
Highland Guppy - Twilight Highlands has pools of these
Icefin Bluefish
Raw Loch Frenzy - Loch Modan
Raw Mithril Head Trout
Musselback Sculpin - Wintersgrasp, might as well get these while you're waiting for Giant Darkwater clams
Raw Nightfin Snapper
Raw Sagefish - These pools are EVERYWHERE it seems!
Sharptooth - Deepholm was where I got mine
Sickly Looking Fish
Spotted Feltail - Zangarmarsh
Zangarian Sporefish - Zangarmarsh has pools
Barbed Gill Trout - Junk fish you catch from just about anywhere in Outlands
Blackbelly Mudfish - Uldum has pools
Bonescale Snapper
Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish - Orgrimmar
Deviate Fish - Barrens near WC
Fangtooth Herring - Howling Fjord
Figluster's Mudfish - Nagrand pools
Furious Crawdad - Terrokar Forest in Skettis
Glacial Salmon - Pools in Grizzly Hills but might as well fish in Wintersgrasp
Golden Darter - Terrokar forest the Mixed Highland pools often get you this
Raw Greater Sagefish - Another one of those pools you seem to see everywhere
Huge Spotted Feltail - Outland pools but I got most of mine from Zangarmarsh and Terrokar in Skettis
Lavascale Catfish - Deepholm
Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper - Orgrimmar
Mountain Trout - Mount Hyjal pools
Nettlefish - Pools in Sholozar Basin but might as well fish in Wintersgrasp
Plated Armorfish
Sewer Carp - Dalaran sewer
Shimmering Minnow
Slippery Eel
Striped Lurker

Oceanographer Fish

Abyssal Clam - not really fished, drops from nagas in the Maelstrom
Big-Mouth Clam - Azshara
Darkclaw Lobster - Azshara
Darkwater Clam
Deepsea Sagefish - Uldum good because you can catch lots of other fish as well
Firefin Snapper
Raw Glossy Mightfish
Jaggal Clam - Isle of Quel'danas
Moonglow Cuttlefish - Pools in Dragonblight out near icebergs
Oily Blackmouth
Raw Rainbow Fin Albacore
Rockfin Grouper
Raw Slitherskin Mackerel
Stonescale Eel - Azshara and Blasted Lands good
Raw Sunscale Salmon - See Redgill
Winter Squid - Azshara but is seasonal
Algaefin Rockfish - Dragonblight has pools
Borean Man O' War - Dragonblight and Borean Tundra
Darkshore Grouper - Darkshore but best near the town
Deep Sea Monsterbelly - near icebergs in Dragonblight
Fathom Eel - Uldum but there are pools of these in Tol Barad peninsula
Giant Sunfish - Isle of Quel'danas, best near the flight master
Imperial Manta Ray - Borean Tundra has lots of pools
Large Raw Mightfish - Feralas
Murglesnout - PITA fish caught just about anywhere in Uldum and Twilight Highlands
Pygmy Suckerfish - from pools in Northrend
Raw Redgill - Blasted lands best coz you can get Sunscales, Summer Bass and Whitescales too
Raw Rockscale Cod - Feralas
Raw Spotted Yellowtail - Tanaris
Raw Summer Bass - See Redgill
Raw Whitescale Salmon - See redgill

And I noticed that this achievement got a bit of a nerf.  They no longer have all those ridiculous bloated fish that they used to have!  Or all the XX pound fish.
